Law Student Internship - Unpaid
Hours: 
10-12 hours per week minimum - (37.5 hours fulltime) Spring/Fall Session
37.5 hours per week - Summer Session

Interns at CPR conduct research and compose content for CPR’s website, CLE courses, its publications and articles being developed by CPR staff.  Interns also conduct background research as necessary for CPR’s Industry and Practice Committees and for Institute-wide surveys and studies, where appropriate.

Recent illustrative projects handled by interns:

  • Conduct searches of legal databases 2-3 times per week for ADR cases, review cases and compile write-ups for noteworthy cases to be posted on CPR’s website.
  • Update cases and assist in editing the “Mediator’s Deskbook.”
  • Citecheck articles appearing in Alternatives
  • Compose a note on class actions in arbitration to be posted on CPR’s website.
  • Write abstracts of books selected for awards from CPR.
  • Attend and assist with CPR’s annual meeting.
  • Compile and input into spreadsheet list of attorneys in member firms working in the healthcare and pharmaceutical area.
  • Create hypothetical based on new Bar Association Ethics opinion.
  • Attend and take minutes at Committee meeting

Social Media & E-Communications Internship - Unpaid or For Credit

The Social Media and E-Communications Intern will be charged with monitoring and updating the performance of CPR’s existing website by continuously evolving CPR’s front-end web experience into a state-of-the-art point of engagement for CPR’s members and the general public.   He/she will increase CPR’s usage of innovative web-based and social networking technologies to facilitate collaboration among users and will play an integral role in executing an overall marketing strategy that combines social media, e-communications vehicles, and web-based platforms with traditional marketing communications vehicles.  His/her primary objective will be to broadly and effectively promote CPR’s think tank and public policy related ADR initiatives to a diverse legal audience.  

The Intern will be responsible for supporting the digital marketing and communications initiatives of the CPR Institute.  These responsibilities include:
  • Website construction, content editing, and technology enhancements as well as streamlining navigation/workflows;
  • Launching and implementing SEO initiatives to increase web visitation by members and the public.
  • Managing and expanding CPR’s social media participation;
  • Utilizing e-communication tools and marketing collateral to craft and disseminate effective and timely messages to CPR’s constituents;
  • Integrating CPR’s new CRM/membership database with the organization’s e-communications efforts; and,  
  • Assisting in the coordination of project-based e-marketing activities.

Marketing Intern - Unpaid or For Credit
Hours are flexible; prefer 10 hrs week.  Responsibilities include:
  • Drafting direct mail and online marketing messages and tools to promote organization’s work to members and prospective members.
  • Utilizing e-communication/social media tools (including Magnet Mail, Linked In, Survey Monkey and Twitter) to craft and disseminate marketing messages.
  • Researching topics of interest and adding new content to organization’s website.
  • Drafting and disseminating media and public relations communiqués, including participating in industry blogs and drafting/disseminating press releases.
  • Assisting with general marketing-related office work –miscellaneous projects, database entry, and proofreading/editing.
The ideal candidate would possess strong writing and editorial skills, and possess a strong attention to detail.  Excellent communication and collaborative skills are also needed to work within this small non-profit. The candidate should be able to work independently and adhere to deadlines.  Interest in and knowledge of the Web a must!  Familiarity with web tools or the legal industry a definite plus!  Training with the internal web content manager and other e-communication tools will be provided.
