CPR on the Podium

CPR has dedicated significant resources to extend its reach across industries and geographic areas to become the global leader in promoting innovation in commercial dispute resolution.  As a result, CPR’s staff actively spread the word about ADR though speaking engagements, workshops, and trainings around the world. Among the many forums in which CPR participated in 2010 are: February 2010 February 17-19                           CPR was organizer for this customized training program for a special contingent from the Iraqi Ministry of Oil. The training took place in New York City and covered ADR topics and methodology, including "Consultation in the US" and "Alternative Resolution of Contractual Disputes". This program was funded by the U.S. Department of State and hosted by Columbia University's Law School.   March 2010 March 19       Lorraine M. Brennan presented on drafting the arbitration clause at the first CLE Program of the Miami International Arbitration Society. March 22 Lorraine M. Brennan attended the 8th Annual Miami International Arbitration Conference sponsored by the American Arbitration Association. March 23 Lorraine M. Brennan was a panelist  at the  PLI International Arbitration 2010 in New York City.  Her session was entitled “International Arbitration in the Current Economy: Cutting Costs and Saving Time”.    March 24-26     Kathy Bryan attended the 2010 CLM Annual Conference in Florida.   March 26-27 Lorraine M. Brennan served as the Moderator on a panel entitled “Negotiating Deals and Managing Commercial Disputes in Asia” at the Asia Business Conference 2010, sponsored by Harvard Business School Program in Cambridge, Mass.   April 2010 April 7                  Kathy Bryan delivered the keynote speech before the American Bar Association Section  of Dispute Resolution Annual Conference in San Francisco.  Bryan’s speech for the “Civil Collaborative Law Symposium: Bringing Healing to Law and Medicine in Adverse Medical Events” included collaborative law techniques in commercial cases and her comments were based in part on points in “Why Should Businesses Hire Settlement Counsel,” an article she authored in 2008 (No. 1) Journal of Dispute Resolution 195 (University of Missouri School of Law). April 14 - 16 Kathy Bryan presented at the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution’s American Justice at a Crossroads: A Public and Private Crisis event in Malibu, CA. CPR was a co-sponsor of this event. April 16 Lorraine M. Brennan was a panelist at the ABA Spring Meeting of the Section of International Law in New York City. Ms. Brennan spoke on a panel entitled “Seventh Annual What’s New in International Dispute Resolution- Plus the Art of Cross Examination in International Arbitration”. April 17 Lorraine M. Brennan was a panelist at Columbia Arbitration Day in New York City at Columbia Law School. May 2010      May 10-12 Kathy Bryan attended General Electric’s Leading and Learning: Reset and Renewal Conference in Crotonville, NY. May 18 Lorraine Brennan spoke at the AmCham Program in Beijing, China, entitled "International Dispute Resolution In and Outside of China: Trends and Developments as Chinese Firms Expand Internationally."  May 19-21 Kathy Bryan chaired and presented at the Corporate In-House Counsel Dispute Resolution Strategies Forum in Amsterdam. June 2010      June 14-15 CPR was co-sponsor of the Fifth Annual Fordham Law School Conference on International Arbitration and Mediation held in New York City at Fordham University.  June 13-15 Lorraine M. Brennan attended a meeting of the NAFTA 2022 Committee on Private Commercial Disputes in Houston, Texas. June 17-18 Lorraine M. Brennan attended the Institute for Transnational Arbitration Annual Meeting in Dallas, TX. August 2010      August 13 Olivier André spoke at the National Bar Association 85th Annual Convention in New Orleans as part of CPR's efforts to promote diversity in ADR. August 27 Kathy Bryan was the keynote speaker for a two-day 2nd Annual Civil Collaborative Symposium in Dallas, TX.  September 2010 September 2 Lorraine Brennan spoke at the PLI: Ethics in Arbitration 2010 program in New York. September 6 Lorraine Brennan attended the International Mediation Interest Group program (WIPO) in Geneva, Switzerland. September 7 Lorraine Brennan spoke at the CPR/IMI Joint Session in Geneva, Switzerland. September 16 Kathy Bryan and Lorraine Brennan participated in a roundtable at the US-Asia Law Institute at NYU to discuss workplace conflict in China. September 22 Lorraine Brennan spoke at the DC Bar International Section/American Society of International Law Program on International Law Careers in Washington, DC. October 2010      October 5-6 Kathy Bryan spoke at the 2nd Annual Litigation Summit in New York at the Marriott Marquis. October 7-21      CPR participated in 2010 Mediation Settlement Day Programs throughout the month, including the Mediation Settlement Day kick off event. October 21-24 Kathy Bryan spoke at the AIPLA Annual Meeting, Marriott Wardman Park, Washington, DC. October 21-23      Lorraine Brennan spoke at the International Law Weekend program in New York City, NY. October 27     Kathy Bryan participated in the Women in Law Arbitration (WLALA) Panel in Los Angeles, CA. November 2010      November 15-16 Kathy Bryan and Lorraine Brennan participated in the 2010 IBC Cross Border Arbitration & Dispute Resolution Conference in London. CPR was co-sponsor of this event. November 17      Lorraine Brennan attended the ICC/AAA/ICSID Colloque in Paris, France. November 30     Kathy Bryan was a panelist at the FT Chartis Emerging Risks for Cross-Border Business: Strategies for Evolving Multinational Liabilities at the Le Parker Meridien in New York City.
