New York, NY, March 12, 2012 – The International Institute for Conflict Prevention & Resolution (CPR Institute), a nonprofit think-tank and alliance of global corporations, law firms, scholars, and public institutions dedicated to the principles of conflict prevention and alternative dispute resolution (ADR), announces four new additions to its elite Board of Directors.
The CPR Institute’s newest Board members are:
• Carlos M. Hernandez – Chief Legal Officer at Fluor Corporation
Carlos Hernandez is chief legal officer for Fluor Corporation and serves as the company’s corporate secretary, based in Irving, Texas. He joined Fluor in 2007 after having served as general counsel for Fleming Companies, Inc., International Steel Group (ISG), Inc., and ArcelorMittal Americas.
• Peter Rees- Legal Director at Shell
Based in the Netherlands, Peter Rees has ultimate responsibility for the Shell global legal function and advises the Shell group management on all legal matters of group-wide importance, including ethics and compliance. He is also a member of Shell’s Executive Committee.
• Thomas J. Sabatino, Jr.- Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Walgreen Company
Thomas Sabatino, Jr. is executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of Walgreen Company. He joined Walgreens in September 2011 after having served general counsel roles with United Airlines, Inc., Schering-Plough Corporation, Baxter International Inc., and American Medical International, Inc.
• Maura Abeln Smith- General Counsel at PepsiCo, Inc.
Maura Abeln Smith is responsible for PepsiCo’s worldwide legal affairs and compliance, as well as for providing counsel to the chairman and chief executive officer and its Board of Directors. As head of Government Affairs, she ensures that the company’s interests are advanced and protected in legislative, regulatory, and political arenas around the world.
