Dispute Prevention Committee Presents:
Prevention: The Time Is Now

June 4, 2020 | 12:00 – 1:30 EST

While conflict is inevitable, litigation is not. Over the years there have been attempts to address, not only the resolution of disputes, but their prevention.  As is becoming more apparent each day, the litigation fallout from the current pandemic will likely be overwhelming. We can anticipate disputes in almost all areas of practice whether it is bankruptcy, health care, employment, securities, and insurance. At the same time, court backlogs are likely to further impede access to prompt resolution.

The International Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution (CPR) is dedicated to leading in the prevention effort, and has recently launched a Dispute Prevention Panel, comprised of individuals  with skills particularly well-suited to responding to resolving conflicts before positions are hardened.

We will be joined by business leader, Myrtle Potter, current CEO of Sumitovant Biopharma, Inc. and formerly Executive Vice President at Genentech and President of the Cardiovascular/Metabolics business unit at BMS, who will share her views on the importance of dispute prevention.  We also will be joined by panelists Noah Hanft, co-founder of AcumenADR LLC and former CEO/President of CPR, Deborah Hylton, Mediator & Arbitrator, Hylton ADR Services, and Joan Stearns Johnsen, Arbitrator & Mediator, Senior Legal Skills Professor, University of Florida Levin College of Law, and current Chair of the ABA Dispute Resolution Services Section, who will focus on the art of dispute prevention, the enhanced skill set necessary for its execution and the work of the Panel, including the development of adaptable model "prevention" provisions for commercial transactions.  Please join us for a discussion of this important initiative.

CPR Members and Dispute Prevention Panelists only.
