Chinese and U.S. law scholars are urging the two countries' businesses to settle their disputes through mediation rather than arbitration or litigation.
They made the call Friday at the Conference on US-China Business Mediation.
They point out that out of court methods such as business mediation are more efficient, than litigation, and also cost less money so are more suitable for dispute resolution.
They said that with Sino-US trade constantly enlarging, there is a growing number of business disputes, which must be dealt with in a non-adversarial way.
Business mediation means bringing about a peaceful settlement between disputing parties through the objective intervention of a neutral party.
The US-China Business Mediation Center was established last year. It has hundreds of experts in law, international trade, and investment.
