Rutger Metsch

Rutger is a Senior Associate in Herbert Smith Freehills' London arbitration team and an Associate Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London (where he teaches the module 'Strategic Decision Making for Lawyers'). He specialises in dispute resolution, with a specific focus on commercial arbitration, investment treaty arbitration, and ADR. Rutger is also a member of Herbert Smith Freehills' Decision Analysis Team and has significant experience building decision analysis models which quantify and visualise the legal risk of a dispute.

Rutger holds an LLB (Honours) in International and European Law from the University of Groningen and an LLM (Distinction) in Comparative and International Dispute Resolution from Queen Mary University of London. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
