Professional Bio

Allison Torline is Partner at Busse Disputes, a boutique disputes firm based in Frankfurt, Germany. A U.S.-trained lawyer who is fluent in German, Allison is an established practitioner in the German and European market with a decade of experience in international arbitration. Before joining Busse Disputes, she practiced as an attorney in two international law firms in the field of international dispute resolution.

Allison represents clients from all parts of the globe in commercial arbitration proceedings as well as in investment arbitration cases. She is also an experienced arbitrator, having been appointed in ICC and DIS cases.

Her work spans the gamut of major industry sectors, with a particular emphasis on M&A, construction, infrastructure, energy, and pharmaceuticals. She has also represented clients in several specialized matters such as CISG and FIDIC disputes. Her proceedings as counsel were conducted under the ICC, ICSID, DIS, Swiss, HKIAC, and UNCITRAL rules in addition to ad hoc proceedings.

In 2023, Allison was selected to serve on the Steering Committee of Young ArbitralWomen Practitioners (YAWP) for the 2024-2025 term. She is also a member of the Editorial Team of the Transatlantic Law Journal (Beck/DAJV). She co-lectures a class on U.S. trial advocacy, rules of evidence, and civil procedure at the University of Bonn. She further contributes to the field through publications on arbitration issues and frequent participation as a speaker at national and international conferences. She is particularly interested in space-related disputes.

In addition to Who's Who Legal (renamed Lexology Index), Allison has been repeatedly recognized for her work in arbitration by Global Arbitration Review, Best Lawyers/Handelsblatt, and Euromoney’s Expert Guides/IFLR1000.
