The AI-Ready Neutral: Tools for Application, Assessing Risks, and the Future of AI

This full-day hybrid program equips neutrals and advocates to engage with artificial intelligence thoughtfully, practically, and responsibly.

Participants will begin with an overview of the evolving AI landscape, including key principles, legal developments, current applications, and emerging trends in arbitration; gain hands-on experience using Microsoft Copilot and effective prompting techniques with Nathan Haley and Jake Thornburgh from Microsoft; examine governance, ethics, risk assessment, and common pitfalls specific to neutral practice; and conclude with a forward-looking keynote on where AI is headed and what its continued development may mean for dispute resolution.

Hour 1: Overview of the AI Landscape

An overview of the AI landscape and its use in arbitration. What's out there - principles and law, current landscape, use cases and trends we’re seeing.

Hour 2: Microsoft Copilot Hands-on Demonstration

The team at Microsoft will provide training on CoPilot and how to use it, providing hands-on opportunities to use AI prompting.

Hour 3: Networking Lunch

Hour 4: Governance & Ethics

A discussion on the governance and ethics issues arising from the use of AI, focusing on issues that neutrals face, how to assess risk, pitfalls, and cautions in use. 

Hour 5: The Future of AI, Keynote by Megan Ma

Megan Ma, Stanford Legal Innovation through Frontier Technology Lab (liftlab), will provide a keynote address on the future of AI – where it’s headed and what to expect.
