Rafael Francisco Alves is CPR Partner of the Year

Press Releases,

New York, NY – The International Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution (CPR), a global non-profit organization that helps others manage conflict so that they might better pursue their purpose, announced Rafael Francisco Alves, Partner at MAMG Advogados, São Paulo, is the CPR Partner of the Year for 2022.

The CPR Partner of the Year award is given to that member who has made outstanding contributions to the thought leadership of the CPR Institute, who has shown exceptional engagement with CPR’s activities, and who has demonstrated meaningful commitment to CPR’s mission of dispute prevention and resolution.

Rafael is a member of the CPR Council, co-chair of CPR’s Brazilian Advisory Board, and Officer of the Brazilian Arbitration Committee (CBAr). In his capacity as Co-Chair of the CPR’s Brazilian Advisory Board and CPR Council Member, Rafael Alves has been dedicating his time to expand CPR membership in Brazil, to disseminate CPR’s initiatives in the region and to promote CPR’s new resources on dispute prevention.

“We are fortunate to have so many members who make wonderful contributions to our community and mission. Rafael stands out amongst them. He actually embraces our work in his own work and in a way that is inspiring for our community. We are honored to be able to recognize him in this small way,” said Allen Waxman, President & CEO of the International Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution.

“It is a true honor to receive this award,” said Alves. “Even though this is an individual recognition, the truth is that I have been fortunate enough to be working with a fantastic group of people. I do not walk alone, this is a collective endeavor. I have much to thank CPR Board and Staff and my peers and colleagues at the CPR Brazilian Advisory Board. And of course, this would not have been possible with the support of my family, my wife and kids, and my colleagues at MAMG. Embracing dispute prevention resources at CPR has been life-changing for me.”

In addition to his role as partner at MAMG Advogados, Alves is Professor of the Graduate Program at FGV São Paulo Law School. He holds a Ph.D., Master of Laws, and Bachelor of Laws from Universidade de São Paulo. He also holds an LL.M. from New York University School of Law, where he was an Arthur T. Vanderbilt Scholar.

The award presentation was held Thursday, March 2, 2023 at the 2023 CPR Annual Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana.
